Onagawa
Ricefields on the way from Onagawa to Kesennnuma
Kesennnuma
Rikuzentankada
Tne people in large parts of the devastated areas have the big problem that they do not know what to do with the waste material as it might be contaminated and radioactive due to the uncontrolled release of radioactivity since the disastrous earthquake on 11 march of this year.
On the 29th of september some big waste dumps around Tokyo opened officially for waste material from the above stated areas. It is also officially prohibited by the authorities to build new buildings in the devastated areas as the soil might be contaminated
highly.
Next to a strange silence in Onagawa, Kesennuma and Rikuzentankada
you see demolition activities, activities to seperate the waste materials, you can also see unassertive activities that people in these circumstances desperately try to get back to routine.
For example in Kesennuma, fishermen are trying to start up production again in a building where the most affected parts of the structure are shielded away.
